Piccolo enjoyed an outstanding, almost incredible, show career. She finished her title before the age of one year, with 3 major wins and several Best of Variety wins over ranked specials. The most exciting of these must have been her BOV from the Puppy Class over specials at the prestigious Montgomery County KC show – the most important all-Terrier show in the world. Two days after finishing her championship, Piccolo was BOV at the KC of Philadelphia show (the “National Dog Show” broadcast on Thanksgiving Day by NBC).
Three weeks later, Piccolo was chosen as BOV at the American Manchester Terrier Club’s District 2 Specialty Show in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. All this before her first birthday!
We continued to special Piccolo lightly, and she was awarded many BOV wins as well as a Terrier Group placement at the National Capital show. Her record was such that she qualified for the 2006 Eukanuba Invitational Dog Show in Tampa, FL, as a Top 25 contender.
In the fall of 2009, we brought Piccolo out to some UKC shows just for the fun of it, and she completed the requirements for her UKC championship in only four shows. Her wins in that venue include three Group 3rds, a Group 1st, and a Reserve Best in Show!
Like her dam, Piccolo was a small bitch of about 17 lbs. She had a perfect outline, proportion and balance, a correct tailset and carriage, and a sound, long-striding gait. Her head type was beautiful, with correct planes, and a very pretty earset and carriage. Her eye placement, shape and color lent her a meltingly pretty expression which charmed all who saw her.
Piccolo had three litters all told and she produced beautiful, typey puppies which are carrying on the Charlin tradition of correct type, structure, movement, and temperament. We are heartbroken to have lost Piccolo well before her time to an abdominal adenosarcoma and intussusception.
